Roger A. Montoya is a native of El Paso, Texas, having been born there, and raised there by loving parents. After graduating from Cathedral High School, Mr. Montoya went on to studyHistory and Government/International Studies at the University of Notre Dame, at Notre Dame, Indiana, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Montoya obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas, in 1998; in the same year Mr. Montoya passed the Texas Bar Exam on his first attempt and received his license to practice law. After receiving his license to practice, Mr. Montoya began working as an attorney. Mr. Montoya served as an Assistant District Attorney in El Paso’s District Attorney’s Office from February of 1999, until November of 2002. Mr. Montoya then opened his own private practice, and served the El Paso community as a solo practitioner until June of 2015, when he became an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Ruben Ortiz. Mr. Montoya returned to solo practice at the Law Office of Roger A. Montoya in November of 2016, and has been serving the El Paso community as a private practitioner ever since. In Mr. Montoya’s over 22 years of experience as an attorney, he has tried more than 85 jury trials at the misdemeanor and felony levels, in municipal, state, and federal courts. Mr. Montoya has tried cases ranging from Class C citations, to Capital Murder allegations, and every type of offense in between. Mr. Montoya handles cases in a variety of practice areas. He has handled criminal cases, family law matters, civil actions, consumer law cases, and probate matters.
